German Beak Crested Trumpeter
History/Origin,
Origionating in the Thüringan and Saxon Areas, bred
from Double-Crested Trumpeters and Colour Pigeons.
Overall impression,
Strongly built Pigeon with almost Horizontal Underline
to the Body, well formed Beak Crest, well developed Muffs with the Posture high
enough for the Muffs and Thigh Feathers to be distinctly seen, the Neck is
slightly longer, finer and with a more distinct Throat, than the German Double Crested Trumpeter.
Head,
slightly finer than the GDC Trumpeter in the Head with
a richly Feathered Beak Crest of Oval Form desired , with no 'breaks' or
weakness, the Greater part of the Crest to cover the Beak-Cere with good under
structure but it must leave the Birds vision completely unhindered.
Eye,
dark Orange, (with Red and Duns a lighter coloured Iris
allowed),
with
Whites and Erbsgelbe (Cream) (literally 'Pea-Yellow), Dark colour (Bull-Eyed),
for Pieds, depending on the Head Colour, either Dark or Orange (both the same
colour).
Eye-Cere fine and Pale to dark depending on the pigeons
colour.
Beak,
medium length, Pale colour for all light/White coloured
birds, Horn colour for Dilutes and Chequers, Dark to Black for Dark coloured
birds, for Reds a shaded Beak is acknowledged.
Neck,
full from the Breast and carried well, slimmer and
longer than the GDC Trumpeter, Throat well defined.
Breast,
Broad, deep, carried well forward.
Back,
broad and long, slightly sloping.
Wings,
broad and strong, not to reach the Tail Tip,
covering the Back well.
Tail,
long, with broad Feathers.
Legs,
short, with long, thick Muffs, without gaps/missing
Feathers. the Muffs should be well formed and with a Curving sweep to the Sides,
blending with the Thigh
Feathers.
Opulent, broad Feathering, smooth and without looseness.
Colours,
White. Black. Red. Yellow. Blue with or without Black
Bars. Blue Chequer.
Dilute Blue with or without Dark Bars or Chequer.
Mealy. Cream.
Erbsgelbe (Pea-Yellow) (Cream but with a Whitish Head
and distinct Yellow Neck and Ivory Body).
Mealy Chequer. Cream Chequer.
Muselköpfig in Black (White Flecking to the Head) with
or without a White 'Wing 'Rose'.
Tiger and Pied
in, Black. Red. Yellow. Blue:
White Bar and Chequer in Black. Blue. Dilute Blue.
Red and Yellow.
Colour and markings,
the dark Colours Rich and Deep with a good Sheen (with
Blacks a Green Sheen). the Blues and dilutes Clear and even, not 'Rusty' or
Shaded.
Bars
should be clear and not too Broad, well seperated and crossing the Closed
Wing-shield.
the Chequering on the Wings must be distinct and even,
some Back and Thigh Markings allowed.
Dilute Blue and Dilute Blue Cheq' must not have an
Ochre Colour to the Breast.
Mealies and Creams and also the Chequers in those
colours
would have Paler Heads
(and Orange eyes) and must have the Primary feathers, Tail and Muffs a Pale
Colour.
Erbsgelbe, (Pea-Yellow) have a Light Yellow Neck,
Breast and
Wing Bars, the White colour of the Head blending softly
with the Yellow of the Neck, the Wing Shield, Belly and Back is Ivory Colour,
the Tail, Primary feathers and Muffs are White, (*Note, the Inner Webbing of the
Muff Feathers should be lightly suffused with colour*).
Females of this colour will have a light Greyish tone
to the Breast and Belly.
Muselköpfig have a deep Black with a rich Sheen,
Tiger must have the Primaries, Tail, Belly and Muffs a
solid Colour, no White, the rest of the Head, Neck and Body to be
Pied have a White Ground colour with desired Patches
(not small flecks) of colour as evenly distributed as possible over the entire
Bird, to include the Primaries and Tail, niether the Tail or Primaries should be
Solid colour.
Birds with too little White or Colour or incorrectly
marked, would not be regarded as either Pied or Tigered.
White Bar and Chequer Birds are normaly less full in
feather and with Shorter feathering, this should not be of prime importance with
these colours.
the White Bars and White Chequering of the Blues and
Dilute Blues to have a fine Black(for Blues) or Dark (for Dilutes) Edge to the
Bars and Feather Edging of the Chequering.
Faults,
weak,
small Body, too high on the Leg or
sloping Stance.
Beak-Crest obstructing Vision, incomplete Oval shape,
open Centre, Crest Feathers should lay flat, not sticking-up, nor weak and
loose.
Muffs too short or with gaps(broken Feathers tolerated
but not missing Feathers), missing Feathers on the insides of the Toes (forming
the Complete Muffs).
Wings not covering the Back well (open Back), 'Sabre'
Primaries (too long and Curved),
Feathering too loose, Red Eye-Cere, Matt Colour,
Bluish shading
to the Feather webbing with Blacks, Reds and Yellows. White Backs with Blue coloured Birds.
'Flecking' in the Feather Webbing of the Primaries,
Tail or Muffs, Poor Wing Shield Markings or Bars,
For Erbsgelbe,
a White
‘Bib’ on the front of the Neck,
evidence of a third Wing
Bar, uneven Wing Shield colour, pure White Muff Feathers,
Dark Blue Breast or Belly, (Females allowed a light Grey tone)
For Tigered and Pied, very uneven markings, or
incorrect markings.
Order of importance,
Breed Type and balance. Body and Stance, overall
preparation, Head and ornimentation, Beak-Crest, Muffs, Colour and Markings, Eye
and Beak colour.
