Arabian Trumpeter

Origin, the Domesticated Form of the  Rock Pigeon of Saudi Arabia.

Overall impression, the size and form of a very small 'Field' Pigeon, very lively temperament but also very friendly and trusting.   A 'Trumpeting 'Voice' totally Peculiar to this Breed of Pigeon, it should not sound like any other Breed.

Head, smooth, oval-round, small and likened to the Eurasian Turtle Dove.

Eye, with all colours Dark, eye-cere small and too match the Colour, from gray to light Flesh colour.

Beak, medium length, with Whites, flesh colour. other colours Horn-coloured. with dark colours a slightly darker Tipp allowed.

Neck, medium length, with if possible a well defined 'Dewlap' (this is strongly desired).

Breast, well rounded and well filled and broad  Breast.

Back, Broad and medium length, slightly sloping.

Wings, Medium length, the Back well covered by the Wings.

Tail, Medium length, well closed.

Legs, Medium length, un-feathered, Nail colour of no importance.

Feather, tight, well closed feathering.

Colours,

White. Black. Blue with black-bar. Blue Cheq'. Red-Atlas. Yellow-Atlas. Dominant Red. Dominant Yellow. Mealy. Pied in, Black, Blue, Dominant Red and Dominant Yellow.

 

Colour and markings,

Self colours to be clean and clear, Blue may vary from light to dark blue.

Red-Atlas has a Red Sheen to the Neck and upper-Breast, with a Grey/Blue Wingshield, with Darker Bars (slight red edging to the Bar)Primary webbing also allowed slight reddish hue).,  the Head colour can be a slightly lighter shade than the Wingshield colour.

 

Yellow-Atlas, has yellow Neck and upper-breast colour, Grey/blue Wingshield colour, with a darker Bar (yellowish edge to the Bar can be seen) yellowish feather webbing to the Primaries and a Dark Tail-bar, the Head colour of the Yellow-Atlas is lighter, as is the Neck colour.

The Red and Yellow-Atlas colours have Blue/grey under-breast , lower body and under-Tail,.

Pied, colours to have preferably, equal amounts of White/colour feathers with good definite 'Flecking' or markings, Birds with either little white or little colour not to be considered 'Pied' but mis-marked.

Faults, a large, thick or course Head. any sign of a crest or rosette, large or Red Eye-cere, Dark Beak. no 'Dewlap', Wings not held on the Tail, Back not well covered by the Wings(too much space showing between closed wings), feathers on the legs or Toes, with Pieds, too little colour or too little white.

Order of importance, overall Breed Type and Balance, Body and Head form, Overall Preparation,  Dewlap, Eye and Beak, Colour and markings.

(It is important that if possible, the 'Voice' of the Bird is Displayed).

Note* all Arabian Judges should have some knowledge of what a 'Arabian' should 'sound like'.
