Color Chart

This section is designed to be a reference.  The birds are not pictured for their close resemblance to any standard.  They are pictured for their color ONLY.  This will be a time consuming project, but I hope to have a good picture of all the colors described in my genetics book.  Hopefully, this will help some people in determining what they really have as far as color goes.  If you have a bird that you question the color of and you can't find a comparable match here, you can email me the pictures and I will do my very best at helping you.

In Pigeons, there are three basic colors:  Ash Red, Blue/Black, and Brown.  Every color, factor, and pattern are in combination with one of these three main colors.  They are pictured below in order of dominance.
The following example matings will include ONLY the three basic colors pictured below which are Blue/Black, Ash Red, and Brown.  As in all example matings within the color pages, all birds are assumed pure (homozygous) for the color listed unless otherwise noted.  Also, pattern is irrelevant in each example.
