Over the last several years, I have been building my Pigeon library of books and have been very fortunate to have acquired some hard to find books. A partial list of these books are posted on this page.
I have also been collecting art, Wagner statues, and other Pigeon memorabilia. I have included pictures of some of these pieces here.
Additional books and other pieces will be added so check back often. I am always looking for Pigeon books and Wagner statues.
I am truly grateful to Keith Phelps for the bulk of my books and collectibles. Many thanks to you, Keith.
American Pigeon Keeper Magazines: I have a few very old copies of the American Pigeon Keeper magazine. I have June 1933, September 1933, March 1933, July 1934, August 1934, September 1934, November 1934, December 1934, and February 1935. Most of these are in excellent condition and are great historical writings about the Pigeon hobby.
The Pigeon News: I have mmany issues of The Pigeon News magazine from 1940 through 1968. A few of these are complete years. These are very old and hard to find. Also great historical information about the hobby.
Antique Television Lamps: These are antique Pigeon Television lamps. The way it was told to me was that, back when the television first came out, people thought you could go blind watching television in the dark, so they made these TV lamps to add a little light to the room.
Modena Standard Prints: These are prints of the proposed Modena standard dated 1970. The artwork is done by H. Eric Buri. In addition to the four prints shown here, I have a Bronze-Tri, Blue Gazzi, Red, Bronze Lace Gazzi, Sulphur-Tri Gazzi, and Bronze Gazzi.
Pigeon Prints: These prints are 1/2 sheet size and came in a magazine many years ago. On the back of each print is a description of the breed. I have several of these.
Revlosky Prints: Ihave several of these Revlosky prints of different breeds. These have exquisite detail and color!
Cassel's Prints: I have only these two Ludlow prints from Cassel's Pigeon Book. These are very old and in excellent condition.
Pigeon Prints: These are some more of the 1/2 page size prints with descriptions of each breed on the back.
Postcards: I have two books of postcards with many different Pigeon and Dove designs on them. Some have writing and are postmarked as far back as the turn of the 20th century! Some of these would be very difficult to find today!
English Trumpeter Drawings: I have two of these that are original pieces. They are done completely in ink pen and signed Virgil '85. You can see the other one of these in the picture with the beer steins.
Mugs & Steins: I have a few collectible beer steins and coffee mugs. Most were given as awards during a show and a couple are commemorative mugs from a show. In the picture of the beer steins you can see the second pen drawing of English Trumpeters by Virgil '85.
Old Premium Lists: I have some actual NPA Grand National premuim lists from some of the earliest shows. I have one for 1934 (15th annual), 1935 (16th annual), and 1936 (17th annual). These are all still in the original mailing envelopes that were sent to breeders!
Antique Framed Award: This is a very old award given to a Racing Homer many years back. There is no date on the picture but it says "No. 3 Copyright" and "Printed and Published by F. Waller, 18, Hatton Garden, London, E.c.".
The award itself reads as follows:
"This is to certify that Mr. J. Baker won first prize from Exeter, 42 miles, velocity 904 per min.
Also winning third from Penyance (Spelling?) 135 miles, velocity 747 yds per min.
James Baker Sec.
Bridgewater Amateur H.S.
Military Pigeon Boxes: These are some of the actual military Pigeon boxes used in WWII (I believe). These are a very heavy duty cardboard box for holding two pigeons. There is an opening for putting the message on the leg of the bird (I have a couple of these original message holders, too), and an opening on each end for releasing the bird. These are labeled Container PG-107/PB.
Wagner Statues: These are the only two Wagner statues I have, but I would like to find more of them. There is a Red Check Giant Homer and a Grizzle French Mondaine.
