Bokhara Trumpeter

History/Origin: Probably brought from originally from Persia to Bucharei, in Germany by 1872 although possibly earlier importations occurred.

Overall impression: A strong, compact very deep standing Pigeon (but not 'Squat') with horizontal underline. very richly feathered with a full 'Lax' (not 'stiff and upright') shell crest and opulent beak crest, heavily muffed.

Head: Strong broad and flat with a very richly feathered, broad and 'Lax' shell crest forming a 'Mane-like' structure to the rear of the neck, with an opulent circular beak crest covering the head and to the beak tip, completely closed (without 'breaks') correctly positioned that the bird has no obstruction to vision.

Eye: Pearl. For Whites and White head marked birds, dark. however Pearl colour is strived for.

Beak: Medium length and strong, to match the feather colour, light to black but light horn colour is strived for.

Neck: Short, very thick and full.

Breast: Very deep, broad, and rounded, carried well forward.

Back: Broad, long, and slightly sloping.

Wings: In proportion to the bird, very broad and long, the wing tips almost reaching the tail tip and carried on the tail.

Tail: Broad feathered, at least as long as the longest primary (wing) feathers.

Legs: Short and thickly muffed, the muffs sweeping to the sides and well blended with the thigh feathers.

Feather: Opulent feathering, long and broad, fairly Loose feathering but even and sleek.

Colours: White, Black, Red, Yellow, Blue with or without Black Bars, Blue Cheq', Tiger and Pied in Black, Red, and Yellow, Muselköpfig in Black.

Colours and Marking: Self colours desired to be a clear, deep and even colour thoughout.
Muselköpfe (Flecked Head) to have deep black ground colour with white feathers flecking the head, also can have a wing 'rose' of 5 to 10 white feathers on both wing butts.
Tiger must have coloured primaries and tail feathers, and evenly marked with white feathers over the body, neck, head.
Pied should have equal white and coloured feathering distributed over the entire body including the primaries and tail. However, tail, primaries, and muffs also allowed all White.

Faults: Small, weak body; too high on the legs; slanting posture (underline not Horizontal); beak crest long and thin or weak feathering obscuring vision; muffs badly formed and missing feathers (including the small feathers giving form to the muffs); bad colours and markings faults.

Order of importance: Balance and breed type; body form and posture; overall preparation; head structures (crest, beak crest); muffs; eye colour; colour and markings.
