Ringneck Dove Color Chart

This page is designed very similar to the Color Chart for the Pigeons.  As I am able to acquire the colors not pictured here, they will be posted.  Please remember two things when dealing with Ringneck Dove colors:
1.)  There can be slight variations to each color listed.
2.)  Some colors are very subtle in appearance making it difficult  to get good, clear pictures.

Wild or "Normal" colored birds should have a dark brown body, tail and wings.  The flight feathers are black.  It has a distinctive violet head and breast.  Eye color should be deep red.  Neck ring is black.

Wild Pied
As with all Pieds, the pattern and percentages of White/Colored feathers will vary.  Pied birds are always white splashed with another color.  Pied is not a combination of white and a dark color but an entirely separate mutation.  Pied can be produced in any color.  The eyes are always black. 

Fawn has been compared to the Dilute factor in Pigeons.  It would be Dilute Wild Type.  Sometimes referred to as "Blond".  Fawn's have a tan body, tail, and head with a black neck ring.  They eyes are deep red or orange.

Fawn Pied
The colored feathers on the Fawn Pieds should be lighter than in Wild Pieds.  Just like Fawn is lighter than Wild.

White
Regular White Doves have a white body, tail, wings, and head.  It may have a slight cream color at the underside of the tail.  It may also have a light colored neck ring.  The main difference between these Whites and the other 2 White varieties is the Orange eye.

Rosy
Rosy Doves should show the dark orange or reddish color in the wings with dark flights and have a purple head, neck, and breast area.  The ring should be black.  Eyes are deep red.  Rosy's have a brownish tail bar.

Peach
Peach is the Dilute of Rosy and should be a creamy orange or peach color throughout with lighter flights.  Peach birds should have a dark gray or charcoal neck ring.  Deep red eyes.

Orange is the Dilute of Tangerine.  Orange doves have an intense peach-rust-orange color on the body, head, and wings.  The main distinction is the gray to white neck ring and white flight feathers.  Orange's have deep red eyes.

Orange Pied

Orange Pearl
Orange Pearl is genetically Homozygous Orange.  These have an orange body with white feathers edged with orange, giving a pearled effect.  The head is generally a lighter shade of orange and the beak color is light horn color instead of dark.  Neck ring and flight feathers are white.  Eyes are red/brown.

Orange Neck
Orange Necks have a white body, wings, and tail.  There are sometimes traces of an almond color on the shoulders and/or back.  The head, neck, and breast are a rich almond color with a bright white neck ring.  Eyes are chestnut red in color.  Orange Necks sometimes show a white "cap" on the top of the head.  Orange Neck is a combination of Frosty and Orange Pearl.

Tangerine
Tangerine's are an intense rusty red color with violet head, neck, and breast.  Flight feathers, tail, and neck ring are light gray to white (white being most desirable). Eye color is chestnut red.

Tangerine Pied

Tangerine Pearl
Tangerine Pearls are pure, or Homozygous Tangerines.  The body is the same as in the Tangerine except there are white feathers edged with tangerine giving the pearl effect.  The flights, tail, and neck ring are white with violet head, neck, and breast.

Violet Neck
Violet Neck is a combination of Frosty and Tangerine Pearl and should show a white body, wings, and tail with occasional Tangerine or Orange pearling on the back and/or shoulders.  Head, neck, and breast are a rich violet color with a bright white neck ring.  Eyes are chestnut red.  A white "cap" is sometimes also present.

Chinmoy

Blond (Fawn) Frosty
This is sometimes called "Light" Frosty by some Dove breeders.  It is a combination of Fawn and Frosty.

Dark Frosty
The body of Dark Frosty's range in color from dark slate blue to near "wild" color except it lacks the violet head, neck, and breast.  The flights and mid-feathers on the wings are grizzled (frosted).  There may also be white in the tail.  Neck ring is black.

Ice
Ice are an intense White color with occasional random blue/gray feathers.  Some will be Grizzled on the flights and mid-feathers.  Beak is dark and eyes are black.  There should be no neck ring.  Ice is simply Dark Frosty Pied.

Bull Eyed White
Bull Eyed Whites are pure white throughout.  These are actually Pieds that came out all white with no color.  The eye color is black and the beak is dark.  No neck ring.
  
Ash
Ash is genetically a combination of Frosty and either Tangerine or Orange.  Ash is an extremely diluted gray to white bodied bird.  Should have a rich almond color on the head, neck, and breast and sometimes shows almond colored penciling on the back and shoulders.  They have a white to gray neck ring.  The picture on the right is what is known as an Ash Pearl.

Ivory or Show Ivory
Ivory's show pearly white to ivory wings and tail.  The head, neck, and breast are usually lighter colored nearing white.  Neck ring is black or charcoal.  The eye color is mottled. 

Dark Ivory
Dark Ivories have light, brownish gray wings and tail with a lighter, white to off-white head, neck , and breast.  Neck ring is black and the eyes are mottled.

Silver Ivory
Silver Ivory is a combination of Ivory and Frosty.  It has a consistent blue/gray colored body, wings, and tail with grizzled (frosted) flights.  Head, neck, and breast are white.  Neck ring is diluted (almost charcoal).

Platinum
Platinum is the visual combination of Dark Ivory, Frosty, and Tangerine.  They have soft pewter gray wings, tail, and body with white head, neck, and breast.  Very light gray neck ring.   Eyes are mottled.

Apricot
Apricot is the combination of Tangerine and Ivory.  Their body color ranges from cream to white.  Tail, back, and wings are a rich pinkish-orange color.  The head, neck, and breast are pure white with an extremely diluted neck ring.  Flights are white.  Eyes are reddish with a mottled iris.  There are also Apricot Pearls.

Albino
These birds have immaculate white bodies, wings, tail, and head.  They are true Albino.  Eyes color is bright pink and no neck ring.

Cream
Cream is a combination of Dark Ivory and Rosy.  They are a cream (manila folder color) on the body.  The head, neck, breast, and flights are white.  Neck ring is a very light brownish color..  The eyes are ruby mottled.

Light Cream
This bird has a very light cream to near white body. The head, neck, breast, and flights are white.  Neck ring is a light brownish color.  Eyes are mottled.

Pink
Pink is a very subtle color.  They have a pinkish-white cast to the entire body (an extremely diluted, slightly reddish brown).  It also comes in Pearl.  Beak color is bone and the eyes are dark ruby.  Neck ring and flights are white.  There is no tail bar.  Genetically, Pink is a White Tangerine.

Sunkist
Sunkist is a combination of Frosty and Peach and is a relatively new mutation.  The body of this bird is light yellow (frosted peach).  The color lightens from head to tail and is very soft and subtle.  The flight feathers are white.  There is a light brown/gray neck ring.

Roan
Roan is simply Frosty and Rosy combined.  The body is described as the color of a chocolate malt (dull brown).  It has a light violet head, neck, and breast.  The flights and mid-feathers are grizzled (frosted).  Neck ring is black.  It resembles a faded Rosy.  The color of the Roan appears lighter towards the tail.
